Keno is a game of chance with a rich and acclaimed past. The game that we are familiar with has undergone incredible alterations since its initial inception. Gaming chroniclers have followed its roots as far back as 200 B.C. to a Chinese form of diversion referred to as ‘The Game of the White Dove.’ It is a accurately-recorded certainty that a type of keno was played in a bingo-like arrangement on the eastern seaboard right around the time of the humongous Chinese immigration at the time of the gold rush.
In its latest form, keno is something like bingo in that both games are based upon numbers. An individual keno card comes with 80 numbers and the player will pick as many as he/she would like. This is done by marking them with a pen. As soon as the gambler has selected the numbers, s/he must bring the card back to the person at the keno stand. The cashier will then issue a receipt after recording the player’s numbers. It’s the responsibility of the gambler to redeem any winning keno card before the next round starts, so stragglers have to keep alert.
