Keno is a game of luck with a rich and acclaimed past. The game that we are familiar with has undergone remarkable alterations since its initial appearance. Gaming chroniclers have traced its background as far back as 200 B.C. to a Chinese form of amusement called ‘The Game of the White Dove.’ It is a accurately-recorded certainty that a style of keno was played in a bingo-like configuration on the eastern seaboard right around the time of the massive Chinese immigration at the time of the gold rush.
In its current style, keno is something like bingo in that both games are centered upon numbers. An individual keno card is printed with 80 numbers and the player is able to choose as many as s/he would like. This is accomplished by marking them using a pencil. After the gambler has selected the numbers, he/she must bring the card back to the nice person at the keno booth. The cashier will then issue a ticket after recording the player’s numbers. It is the responsibility of the gambler to trade in any winning card before the next round begins, so stragglers have to keep alert.
